so, we had to let an employee go last year... lay off. so he has been getting unemployment... no big deal. well, someone here quit, so we offered him his job back... his quote, "well, i guess my free ride is over." but he didn't want the job.

BUT HE FILED FOR UNEMPLOYMENT AGAIN... AND THEY ARE GIVING IT TO HIM!!! meaning, we have to pay.

$27,000 seems like a lot for you to pay, unless he was a very highly-paid employee. i don't know how the current unemployment system works in terms of exact percentages and the like, but you can generally challenge his award of UC benefits at a referee hearing.

If somebody assaulted you and you pressed charges, and went through the arraignment, indictment, and trial, got a conviction, went through the sentencing, and got the guy five years...

...do you think that, after he's spent a year in jail, you ought to be able to reverse your decision to press charges, and free him from prison?

and speaking of the federal government, is this not an example of why Bush really, truly, has to go?

He didn't free the slaves.

He didn't rid the world of Hitler.

He didn't even - like his father - preside over the destruction of the Berlin Wall. Yet George W. Bush tells New Yorker writer Ken Auletta: "No President has ever done more for human rights than I have."
