The majority of the people on that forum have summed up my reactions to this. I haven't bothered reading/buying a GW magazine....ever. It's a shame that so many talented artists go unnoticed because this mainstream magazine caters to mainstream artists and glorifies Kirk Hammet, Linkin Park, etc.
From one standpoint, I would rather not even see Chuck on the cover because he(or Death) have rarely(assuming) ever been mentioned in GW so why now after he's dead? From another angle, I would like to see him on the cover to allow more people to enjoy the great music and support his family by buying the albums. If this was truly his dream, then I believe GW should pay tribute to him...at least more than 3 fucking paragraphs.
As far as the American scene, there are plenty of talented artists from here(like any country), but they just don't get the recognition they deserve. Personally, I think the American scene is getting stronger each day with bands such as Maudlin of the Well, Lilitu, Agalloch, Scholomance, November's Doom, and Krieg(black metal). As much as (mainstream)music in America has gone to shit, there are still plenty of talented artists that are worthy of recognition out there. It's just a matter of finding them and supporting them in any way possible to keep them around(Dusk).
