I'm working on my recording techniques and happened to stumble on this forum

My band's myspace is in my signature. The mix for Angel is the best one right now

Is there anything I could do to make the mix punchier and more 'in your face'?

I really hate myspace's player. Could you by chance post some of this up on Soundclick.com? Sounds good from what I can tell, just hard to make judgments on the mix when listening from myspace.

Yeah that is alot fucken better. Sounds good to me. The vocals may be a little to loud for this genre though although I don't know cause I suck at doing vocals.

the mix to me sounds like it's lacking some high end, especially in the guitars and kick,the snare could use a bit more as well

the guitars have this 'blurriness' about them in the midrange, that makes them less clear than they could be

sounds like you used a drum machine

the singer sounds like he's not pushing very hard, and just kinda gets awkwardly lost in the mix because of it

those synth hits toward the end are a bit overpowering

just my 2 cents...pretty nice work overall really, but that's what i would try to adress

btw...i'm only about 2 hours north of atlanta myself

You should come to my band's concert We're playing the Masquerade Friday the 8th with a couple of other really cool bands.

What's a technique I could use to get rid of the blurriness?

This is my recording setup..

Agile Interceptor -- Line 6 HD147 -- Avatar 4x12 with CL80s -- SM58 on bottom speaker on axis, Audio Technica D 8000S straight on to a top speaker -- Yamaha MG16/6FX mixing board -- Adobe Audition
