Gang/Group vocals with AT 4040?

Recording a hc/punk band's gang vocals tomorrow. Would a AT 4040 be good placed in the end of the room, and everyone chanting at it? We would triple track it, most probably. L, middle, R panned after.

Is that the best way with this mic? Or any suggestions??

Yeah the 4040 should be fine, I normally just have everyone in a semicircle around the mic and record about 5 layers, then add the reverb in mix to get the ambience. I think having the mic at the end of the room would really kill the intelligibility. But hey experiment and see what works.
