i started making a thread asking why this album failed to bring back the rock to metallica, but ah fuckit who cares anymore. so instead i'll just say that this little collection rules, including the new covers.

that is all.

it failed to bring the metal back into metallica because they didn't write the songs, yet reworked them fantastically.

they can still pull off the heaviness, but they can't write new stuff for shit.

well their first 3 albums were variations on a theme, should've just done that again.

Loverman fucking slays. Fuck all of you who disagree.
that's one of jaymzeze'sze best vocal performances, love it. edit: dude you fucker, always deleting posts. :loco:

The Mercyful Fate montage they threw together was really, really good. But come on, it's Mercyful Fate.

I also liked that Blue Oyster Cult song they did...."Astronomy" was it?

All the old covers are brilliant, but that goes without saying. "Crash Course..." was the most Newsted ever did for that band. He actually played on more than one string on that song.

Remember how he used to have 5 string basses? What a much needed contribution to Voivod he was. :loco:

gaaaawwwwwwd that was so annoying. everything except that one intro toward the end of the black album (forget what song) could be played using just the E and A strings. maybe during soundchecks he rocked the low-b and ventured beyond the 7th fret. :loco:

yeah that's the one song that bothers me. the chorus part is cool but the rest is doodoo. i'm not really familiar with the original though.

I'm not sure who's more of an overhead (considering the enormity of the bands they are/were in):

Janick Gers or Jason Newsted.

hahaha .. Gers takes the cake for sure ... what is his role exactly in Maiden? :zombie:

i can't speak concerning janick gers, but what really stinks is that newstead (on the black album and forward) was more useful than 90% of other metal bassists, and that's really fucking sad. :Smug:

i should join a metal band just so i could play more than 4 notes in a song and become a god.

you guys should check out the new Akercocke for some great and "loud" bass work ... sounds really 70's prog rocky as well.

The bassline in Empyrium's "Mourners" is just STUNNING.
*never remembers song titles, remains clueless*

yeah, that one rules. [/no idea]

i'll listen tonight and probably say OH YEAH!!! :loco:

since i got JK paying attention here
