So lately ive been only using impulses to record. Cause i got so fed up with the hollowness i was getting when mic'ing up my cab. But today i was sitting in my room looking at my Recto 4x12 and said fuck it, im gonna try one more time.

This is what i came up with.

Clip 1 with hi/lo pass, C4 and EQ in the highend

Clip 2 Just hi/lo pass, C4

I honestly couldnt tell you what i did different today from any other time i tried mic'ing my cab....lol But im liking the results today!

Whatcha think?

Hey, I like the second one a little more, seems less congested but I'm not listening on my monitors right now.
Can you fill us in on the guitar chain, etc?
Thanks!

Sure. Its Edwards LPC EMG81 into TS9 --Decimator--5150--Recto 4x12--SM57 right off center --Profire610--cubase 4--hi/lo pass 60/12000--C4 close to sneap settings--gate.

checked out the second clip earlier, it's sounding really good!

i had a bit of boxxy-ness when i was recording with a 6505 and mesa cab, the only possible explanation i can offer, is that you got the mic placement correct this time! aha.

but seriously, really small variations in distance/position can make a big difference. also, dependant on the room, and other magic.

don't move anything! haha

thanks,
