i dont know what im doing wrong, i have listened to some of everyones samples they use with gear box and mine doesnt sound anyhing like those. im using the triple rect amp model and cabs, but then in the effects im using the gate, eq and thats it, everyones guitar is really up in your face and sharp enough to cut your grandma's brittle bones, mine just doesnt seem to have that affect... if you could lead me in the right direction that would be great..i guess i just dont understand guitar tone that much since im a drummer and dont play guitar, but i plan on learning to better myself

Try to turn off the cab simulator and instead use impulse cabinets. I like the guitarhack impulses a lot. They can be found somewhere on this forum. Programs like Boogex allow you to use impulses. Just place the vst after gearbox. Remember to turn off the cab simulator on gearbox first though.
well see, the boogex is for pc and im running a mac. so do you think that pluggin into a real stomp box then, plug into the line 6 tonedirect box would help with the sound alot?

Make sure you are using at least a Tubescreamer sim before the amp model, and also try and keep the gain down. Try and adjust the EQ with your ears and not your eyes as sometimes you might find you have funky looking settings but they will work.
