Genelec 1031A, I can get a set...do it?

depends how much you can get em for.
Not my favourite monitors, (bit scooped in the mids and shrill on the top for me......)
Try em and see; you may like them

i wouldn´ think too long for this price.
get them!
they are pretty much studio standard so you can be too wrong with these. i got the 1032 and i really like them. although they are also a little bit harsh in the highs.

The Genelec's are not mid scooped. Everything Genelec make is flat +-3dB, but the reality is that the mid is more like +-1.5dB from the reference. I know this cos I used to work for them.
If you set up your monitors wrong then they'll sound bad. Mixing desks and tables infront of monitors are about the worst thing that you can do to monitoring (unfortunatly they are kinda needed). mixing desks cause a lot of midrange weirdness to happen. If you have the monitors too close to a wall then you have a bass lift. This along with a flat HF could be percieved as a mid scoop.

The graphs can say what they like, but i know what i heard.
Could work with 1031s or 1030's or 8040 QUITE quite happily, definatly more so than smackies.
Still sounded a bit hyped to me.

Tru dat. Can't say that with utmost certainty about the 10xx-series, but I've witnessed some 80xx's go through the measurement process at the factory, and the graphs don't lie.
