i love this series. my favorite the first one for the original playstation. i cant justify dropping that much money on a ps3 just for one game, though, as badly as i want to play it.

The first and third games are amazing. I started on the second one at one point but then my sister wanted her ps2 back (...)

I doubt I'll ever own a ps3 but some day I'll find a way to play this game.

I played it at my uncle's house and I would have to say that the little bit I played was pretty bad ass. Unfortunately, I have to wait until this project is done before I devote time to it.

Yeah, beat it already. It's alright but... seriously overhyped to the fullest extent. Actual gameplay time vs cutscene ratio suffers with MGS2 disease, with gameplay being quite short (first play about 7-8 hours gameplay to 8-9 hours cutscenes, more if you decided to watch the flashbacks), and the second play... 4 hours of gameplay, 5 at the most.

I love reading the interviews with Kojima though, as he states often that this is not the game he wanted to do... which makes us remember MGS2. He really didn't want that game to turn out like it did, but he was pushed into. He got all the freedom back for MGS3, only to have the freedom taken away from him again for MGS4.

I finished it last night. It was good, but there were times when it felt very forced. I wish Hideo actually wanted to make this game. From what I understand, he wanted to stop at MGS2, but was forced into 3 by Konami, and he received death threats because he didn't want to make 4.

Really, I think this one is a game based strictly on nostalgia. I can't imagine somebody new to the series picking the game up and actually enjoying it all that much.
