My old one has went bust. Where is good to buy one? Ebay? I have a roughly £500 budget and I am, at best, rusty with all of the latest computer technologies. I only want a box, no extra's such as monitors.

I'm now looking forward to getting a new one that doesn't have a nervous breakdown any time it's asked to process audio.:waah:

Any advice would be just swell.

I'd build you own, best bang for your buck. Ebay is NOT a good place to buy a PC. Another option would be to pick up a decent quad core at somewhere like Best Buy (or whatever the UK equivalent is) with just the tower, and then reinstall windows on it. I hate dealing with all the preloaded shit they put on computers nowadays, but if you get rid of that stuff some of the pre-built machines can be decent.

I recently upgraded mine with a new motherboard, cpu and memory. U don't need to buy a new case, cd rom drives and that shit unless it's really needed. It are all costs extra for nothing. I got myself a AMD 5200+ dual core, motherboard + 4 gb ram for 135 €.
