Cyberpower PC

yeah firewire is kinda annoying but it's faster than usb2.0 and I'm worried an 8 channel preamp interface with usb2.0 would lag or not be stable when running that many simultaneus tracks. Either way I have a firewire interface (saffire pro 40) so that's what I have to work with right now. I wish the audio world wasn't so far behind all the time. There are no usb3.0 interfaces that I know of. Or at least very very few of them. Thunderbolt interfaces are just starting to surface. Thanks for the help everyone. I guess the only real way to find out is just to try it all out in my new system. If it doesn't work for whatever reason then I can just add a thunderbolt card(my MOBO is thunderbolt ready) and buy a firewire to thunderbolt adapter for my Saffire Pro 40 (which they confirm it works). I'm very excited about getting a new DAW that doesn't suck balls. My current computer is is a Core2 Quad with 4 gigs of RAM!

I already have a PCI firewire card. Is that what you are talking about? Or are you saying I need need a mobo that can hold a PCIe card with a TI chipset?

Most motherboards don't have native PCI slots anymore, they have PCIe to PCI bridges. To avoid problems, just get a PCIe firewire card with a TI chipset. Then you should be able to run any firewire interface without issue.
