How do these pickups compare? Do they have similar output? What about compared to an EMG 81?

I used to have a Flying V with a 500T in the bridge and when I swapped it with an EMG 81 I honestly couldn't hear much of a difference in output, only in tone.

I'm considering about getting another Flying V and keeping the stock pups, but I need to know if it will compare in output with a Seymour Duncan Invader or an EMG 81.

Thanks!

It's been a long time since I tried one, but I think the Invader is total crap. Yeah, it's high output, but that's kind of pointless when it comes at the cost of articulation and tone.

Don't be fooled by the high output hype out there. It'll get things to distort more, but not always in a good way.

Tone wise, you'd probably be better off sticking with the 500T, an 85, or even a JB.

I'd say stick with the 500T if those are your choices, I've got a cheap les paul copy that has 1974 Gibson p/up's and hardware and it sounds awesome (I keep it tuned to C).

If you are looking to buy a p/up to fit I third the recommendation of an EMG 85.

Just thought I'd temporarily own 5 threads as current poster.

I am dumping my EMG 85.. tone zone f spaced black and we have a swap. =)
