Gibson Explorer Faded vs Ebony

Just a question that's been bugging me, how the fuck do you fit a battery in the explorer?
Do you have to go medieval on the wood or can you perhaps put it under the pickguard, cuz I can't really imagine that it fits in the compartment on the back...

Yeah I thought that but ive seen people get a 9v in a VERY tight hole ;)

I think its pretty do-able since so many people seem to have it done! Maybe a fair bit of the chamber is empty with just a few wires inhabiting the area.

For this im after mahogany on mahogany for teh br00tz....but I think ill end up changing the hardware all in one....id like to get Sperzel locking tuners on it!

Im digging the home made pickguard on this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGICxPBvwxw&feature=related

I guess you meant rosewood on mahagony?
Cause I supposed we were talking about the fretboard and not the neck?^^
Figured out I forgot what "maple" is in german, so I was a bit confused
So, I know maple fretboards but I don't like the feel too much, judging from my fathers strat...has a nice look though, especially on some dark gutiars it can make a nice highlight.
Like the black Loomis Schecter Signature.

That Explorer in the vid is Metal as fuck...the pickguard with the Emgs looks really cool...altho I'd swap places of the PU's...never had much use ofr a singlecoil in the bridge

I was talking about the body and neck material hehe

Yeah I do love that scratchplate....plus it makes the chrome hardware look decent. Maybe I could get somebody on here to fix me one up ;)

Oh aye 81/60 this time around!

hahaha ok, so that got me confused...I still wrote BS cause my Ltd has a maple neck^^
other 2 are mahagony

I wouldnt want to miss the "splitable" 89 in the neck, but I never had a 60 in there so I cant compare that

I think it shouldnt be too hard to get such a thing done somewhere in a work shop?

Maybe, but I have no idea what that SP starts out as? Is it a silver one or...?

I just had the 60 in the Snakebyte for the first time....I want it for cleans so its br00tz in the bridge and clean in the neck :)

no I think its some kind of erm dunno how to say it in english..."roughened up iron" or aluminium or something...you know with sandpaper and or steelwool or an angle grinder?
Just guessing here, wasnt that close to see in the vid and Im also not a great worker with metal...or woods :P
Always been more the "artistic" type

Thats why I said, I cant compare it, but for cleans I LOVE the 89 in split mode. more than it as 85. dunno about the 60, but I suppose it sounds great/better than the 85

"Warning: These pickguards are ONLY meant to fit on Warmoth Explorer bodies.
They will NOT retrofit on to any other brand guitar."

Hmmm :\

My old Gibson Gothic Explorer is black with a black pickguard and black hardware.

It also has an ebony fretboard.

Yes its full of win.

Best guitar ever

And a big -1 to Explorers sans pickguard. Or LPs. Or Flying Vs.

That's just modern shit, like being bi-curious or something.

-1 to all those faded models too, the neck is sticky as shit and really feels annoying. Horrible.

Definitely try before buy, who knows, you might like it better than nitro, and beware of what some guitar stands can do to the nitro finish on Gibsons (eat right through it to the paint!)
