Anyone got any good injuries while at a gig? I got hit on the head by a bottle of piss at Download one year, and got some minor facial abrasions at a Black Sabbath gig. I don't have photographic evidence, unfortunately though...

Anyone else?

Lets see....

Got punched in the face by someone at least 5 years older than me at a Cheap Trick concert in Chicago @ Chicagofest for wearing a Loop shirt. Out of the blue I hear "you little coho faggot..." and took a shot to the face. The reference was to radio personality Steve Dahl, who was on WLUP (the Loop)at the time. Same show got hit in the head with an empty bottle of vodka.

Triumph @ the Aragon in Chicago - Got leveled by a bouncer for standing on my chair so I could see, just like everyone else.

Accept @ The Metro in Chicago - While standing out in line, got hit in the face with a full can of Old Style beer. Was more pissed that it was Old Style, than getting hit in the face.

UFO & Saxon @ The Amphitheater in Chicago - Got puked on, then later on, I became sick, and puked. Missed the last 3 songs by UFO due to having to sit down and vomit.

Symphony X @ The Pearl Room in Mokena - Took a cheap shot to the kidney
during all the moshing, which is documented somewhere here. bruised kidney, pissed blood, and an ER visit.

Funniest things I've witnessed -
1) A friend of mine pile-driving a stage diver at a Loudness show in Chicago @ The Metro. He literally crawled to the back of the venue, never to be seen again!

2) A friend of mine who had a bad head cold, getting stuck behind some giant dude at the accept show mentioned above. He was so pissed he couldn't get around this guy, that he created a booger/snot Picasso like drawing on the back of the dude's leather jacket. It was sick, disgusting, and it made us laugh. We could have & should have been killed by that dude.

^^^^

Hit in the head by a bottle of piss?

Yes, the only drink containers you could take in were these square plastic bottles - some of them must have held about a gallon. Of course, when the beer's been flowing all day nobody can be bothered to go and find a porta-crapper (and let's face it, as soon as you go in one of them, some bunch of tossers will turn it upside down with you in it), so the standard thing to do is to take a whizz in one of the bottles, leave the top off it and heave it as far as possible over the rest of the crowd. I caught a fully-loaded one full square on the back of the head. Happy days... :erk:

J-Dub, your last one is sick/hilarious!!

Last November, watching Circle of Dead Children... they were on their last song (and they're a grind band, so their songs are like 30 seconds long!)... there had been broken bottles on the stage all night, and the stupid fucking club didn't clean them up. I was up front and got hit from behind by a bunch of people in the pit. Fell forward, sliced the fuck out of my hand on the bottle. Spent the rest of the night in the emergency room. Ruined my weekend, and had me pretty worried for a little while.

About a month ago, playing at Jaxx in Springfield, VA... in the beginning of this tour, I was breaking a lot of strings (which I normally NEVER do). Broke a string in the last song, sprinted off stage to grab my backup guitar. Took my Strat off in a rush, hit myself REALLY hard with it right above my right eye. Got dizzy for a sec, put on the other guitar, plugged in just in time for the solo. It looked planned. Then as I'm putting my stuff away, my drummer says, "Holy SHIT, what'd you do to your head?" So I looked in the mirror to see a nice bloody bruise swelling up on my head, haha. I still have a bit of a scar. I'm retarded.

I'd look over, and see my friend Tom digging away and coming out with the goods, then smearing them on the guy's jacket. It was SO packed in that place, you literally couldn't move. It was at the height of Accept's popularity, the BTTW tour. Really, he/we should have been killed......

Metal Heart is one of my current favorite albums. SO GOOD!

Injuries... nothing of note. There was a time i was at a God Dethroned show with like 30 other people (the turnout was fucking pathetic) and i was up front headbanging when i feel something pulling on my hair. I found out after a slight investigation that there was a knife in my hair. it was weird.

i was at a suicide silence show ( i know gayyyyy) and it wasnt even them it was like the first shitty local band i was up front and everything was cool when the faggots started hardcore dancing and i got pushed into a monitor, the stage was really high so i sliced my chin up and i was bleeding all over. went to clean it up in the bathroom then took my anger out on the sad excuse they call a mosh. it turned out ok, i thought it was pretty deep but not stichworthy but i still have a weird gouge on my chin

other than that, punched in the face a couple times at opeth, just knocked around a lot at cannibal corpse. bruises mostly on arms and chest etc.
nothing crazy thank god

I was really drunk at a Toxic Holocaust show and was headbanging so hard/imprudently that I headbutted the bass monitor, effectively splitting my forehead open and nearly knocking me out cold. Although I decided that since I was at a thrash show that it was awesome.

all of mine are self-inflicted back / neck sprains and strains from dancing around with my guitar on stage! tend to avoid moshpits nowadays cause if i injured myself and couldnt play guitar it would pretty much screw over my band!

Yeah, same here - can't afford to break an arm or something with gigs coming up.

And before that, I tended to avoid mosh pits, because... well, I'm a pussy? When you're my size, jumping into a pit with big, angry, sweaty piles of muscle doesn't seem to appealing.

Only injuries were while playing....being so drunk that i couldn't really stand up....went to use the wah pedal...lost my balance....fell backwards....took out amp....cracked my head on my (amp)head and ended up using my quad as a bed.

Luckily (or sadly) I seem to be always in the wrong place at concerts. So I never got any real injuries at a concert.

Only thing concerning me was at a Die Ärzte concert (not exactly my music, but the shows are great :goggly:). It was an open air at a lake. The area was a bit aslope and I was standing somewhere in the front.
When the concert started there was a big movement and about 14k people were pressing forward. It's normal at such big concerts, I know. But because of the ground the pressure was quite more than I was used to. Was a really nice experience, not only for me...

Another time we were at a Sonata Arctica concert and Epica were playing right before them. A friend of mine was kind of fascinated by Simone Simons and didn't notice the drummer threw his stick... He got hit by it right on the head and I catched it before it fell on the ground ^^ He got a little swelling on his forehead but he was more angry because he didn't get the drumstick afterwards.

being small, it's easy to avoid the punches so I always found entertainment in the pit.

Nothing serious other than sore ribs from being pushed against the railings at a Testament gig. But the funniest/awe inspiring event I saw was at a Faster Pussycat show in Camden Town, London. I'm in the front row, the band comes on and all of a sudden there is this very strange motion coming from behind me. It wasn't that of an overzealous crowd. So I turned around and there are these two long haired mountain of muscles punching each other in a very unhealthy way!

I turned around, looked at the stage and the band carries on as if nothing is going on. I pray that the fighting will stop so we can all enjoy the show. Sure enough, after a few seconds that strange motion stops. I look around and there is this really huge long haired guy, who was probably twice the size of the two fist fighters put together, holding each of them at arms' length on both sides and simultaneously head banging to 'Where There's A Whip There's A Way'!

I turned around and faced the stage thinking: "Fucking hell, this is unreal!"

Another awesome moment, was at a Def Leppard gig in London. The show starts and one of these idiots, who thinks it's OK to let out his enthusiasm for the band in careless abandon with no respect whatsoever for people around him, starts jumping and screaming to the point where it was becoming a major inconvenience. This short but stocky guy kindly asked that really tall guy if he could stop behaving the way he was as it was annoying to others. Jumping Jack cames to his senses, stopped and apologized.

The show goes on and a few seconds later Jack starts jumping and pushing people around again. The stocky guy turns around, shooting death rays at Jack says in a threatening tone: "If you don't start behaving right now, I'm going to kick your ass right here!" That was it. Jack stopped dead in the tracks and was never heard of ever after. The interesting thing is that Jack was physically bigger and taller than the other guy. The history of David and Goliath repeats itself!
