I hate both of them, but Michael Angelo is obviously more talented then Petrucci.

I used to be a big Dream Theater fan. But they died quick with me. They will with you to once you start realizing there are way better bands out there and you get annoyed with all the young people going OMG PETRUCCI IS THE BEST GUITAR EVER NO COMPETITION. DREAM THEATER IS THE GREATEST BAND TO EVER WALK THE PLANET, NO ONE IS AS CRAZY AS THEM THEY WRITE 23 MINUTE SONGS THAT MEANS THEY ARE THE BEST.

That shit really annoys me.

I don't think they're the best thing out there but they are one of my favorite bands. I've been listening to them since 1992 but my musical talent and taste has strongly progressed since then. I am still a big fan but I don't think they're the best, they're just more musically talented than a lot of people out there.

I just recently saw Buckethead (last Friday) and to be honest with you, I think he is a better player than Petrucci.

I think Portnoy is an excellent drummer but it's all the same shit. When it comes down to it, in reality, Danny Carey is a better drummer. Richard Christy is just fucking amazing.

Portnoy is quick and his technique is purely speed and accuracy. When it comes down to actual difficult things like odd time signatures, he's pretty inept. Most of Portnoy's technique is based off of 4:4.

My friend has his liquid drum theater dvd, and I watched the whole thing. When you see what he's at it doesnt look half as hard. He is a really really good drummer, but there are better out there. Everything he plays sounds a lot similar and actually isn't to hard to do as long as you have good co-ordination. The first thing I learned on drums was a few passages from Liquid Tension Experiment lol. It wasn't to hard at all. Now shit like Atheist and Cynic is fucked on drums.

Well, Petrucci taught me all the basics in his Rock Discipline DVD, so I owe him a lot. Id say it's a tie between Pertrucci and Buckethead, but Buckethead is still way more original than Petrucci.

Why do everyone think Dream Theater are so great? That video was boring and there was nothing super talents about it at all...

dream theater fucking pwns, untill someone can play like jordan rudess on keyboards than stop saying shit

The whole "you can't do it argument" has been done a million times before.

I couldn't make titanic, but that doesnt mean I cant say it was shit.

Don Airey
Jon Lord
Geoff Nicholls
Sabrine Miar
e.t.c

all use more complicated and more effective keyboard patterns than Jordan.

I used to like Dream Theater until Labries voice started getting to me. It's really nasally and annoying and adds an immense cheese factor to the band. He IS talented though. I admire them as a band for being able to construct complex songs and play them well (the Dance of Eternity) but overall they're all mediocre songwriters and Petrucci is a sterile wanker (atleast now, he used to be better).
