Glenn Hughes New Song Samples

Steppin' On' sounds kinda Black Crowesy in ways. Anyway, the typical, great Glenn stuff. I'm really looking forward to this release. Oh, and I'm glad Monkey Man wasn't the Stones tune, which I'd been wondering about since I saw the song list some time back. A good song, but just didn't think it would go with his vibe. Frail sounded beautiful.

Thanks! This is my first time hearing any of the new album. :kickass:

Surprisingly, most of this sounds a lot like the last record, Soul Mover. This is odd as Glenn's solo records are generally very different from each other (while all maintaining the typical Glenn groove). Of course, the "final product" will almost certainly be more telling than these few samples.

1992's "Blues" was exactly that: a blues-rock album with a very '80s feel' to it.
1994's "From Now On" was really 'adult oriented rock' with much in common with bands such as Foreignor and Journey (and my least fav of his)
1995's "Feel" was a complete funk album...literally a Stevie Wonder type record. In fact, he ends the record with a cover of a Stevie song.
1996's "Addiction" was/is the heaviest thing he's ever done...along with the Iommi's "Fused". Pure, balls-out metal. Very heavy. And very shocking!
1999's "The Way It Is" is really his "coming of age" as a solo artist. This one has a bit of every style he's ever done all wrapped up in simply great songwriting.
2000's "Return of Crystal Karma" was basically a slightly heavier version of the "Way It Is". Again, stellar songwriting but a bit too similar to the last.
2001's "Building the Machine" was a return to the funk, but with a very heavy rock groove throughout. This record is probably the finest example of how these two genres can mixc and mix well! To this day, among my favs! :headbang:
2003's "Songs In the Key Of Rock" was his self-proclaimed return to the 70s, and his revisiting of the classic 1974 Deep Purple sound/style. Amazing record. If you like "Burn" and "Strombringer", you'll love this!!
And 2005's "Soul Mover" was the highpoint of his career. It's got such a heavy groove to it yet also shows the influence of writing with Dario Mollo and Tony Iommi in the epics "Dont Let Me Bleed" (among my fav all time songs) and "Let It Go". This record should be owned by every rock and metal fan on the planet. At once it's metal, funk, rock, everything....
