Ok folks,

I purchased ReFx Nexus, Spectrasonics Atmosphere anf few other synth vstis. I am a big fan of this kind of machines.

Now I need a simple synthetised strings sound. Just for simple background chords for ambience. Just the most plain 80's ala Soilwork and Scar Symmetry fake strings. That sounds fat but not too much, to let the guitars and drums breathe.

But f***, I browsed throught the 100s of presets on all my vsti's, I can't find something that nicely blends in the mix. Mostly of them are crazy sounding patches with a lot of effects that sounds great on different things. But for simple background chords, it's just not working...

Should I just buy a korg triton or what :( ?

If you throw me a vid or something with the sound you are after I might be able to find it(I used to have a HUGE interest in keyboards.).

Edit:

Oh, and Korg Triton doesnt really have any sounds that make it worth the cash(Although I love Korgs Joysticks.).

East West Symphonic Orchestra is VERY NICE. A much cheaper (free) route would be the SDK Strings VST. Sounds pretty good

Yeah I know but I want synth sounds, I mean ultra synthetic strings. Not a sample based orchestra VSTi.

You guys have the last Scar Symmetry Album ?
On the first song morphogenesis, at 00:23 the verse arrives, and the are few chords in the back. typical synthetiser sounds. very 80's but thats really I missed to create a fat textures behind the band.

There is also the same sound on the chorus of Timewave zero.

Edirol orchestra? That's not sampled based.

:D thanx Bob but I don't want violons or cellos sounds (even slightly realistic), I just just want super synthetic faky "strings" keyboards sounds, if you have the last scar symmetry you'll know what I mean. maybe I am no using the right terms

I think that you can help me in fact. at 04:45 on Burn Bright Wry Jackal, what do you use ?? ;)

Fruity Loops 8 my friend! That has the most amount of synth plugins (like the one's you are describing) I think I have ever seen. Its a free download for the trial version...you can't save in the trial, BUT, you can still export your sounds :kickass:

You mean from 4:45 till the end of the song?

That's a plug called "sylenth".. you could try the demo i think, it's a patch called telesynth.

That sound is a recreation of an old Prophet keyboard, should be quite easy to find, just search for "prophet strings" or something.
