Going outside, yes OUTSIDE for a cigarette.

I've never heard a bad word said about Austin, although from what I understand, it might be better for someone in their mid-20's, looking for chicks, you know it's a party town perhaps - especially with a big student demographic there? Having said that, if I was at that age, doing that thing, I would probably want to live in downtown Manhattan!

You know where else I've heard is a good place to live? Boulder, Colorado.

Roger Clemens can drop dead. I knew I didn't like fucking Texans.
You NYers are acting like no one has ever come out of retirement.

NAD - I don't know if Whoppers are really $7, but when I visited NY a few years ago, I remember either Whoppers or Big Macs being outrageously expensive compared to the $1.99-$2.99 you pay here.

Last time I bought a Whooper it was $0.99 and I got ripped off. I hate burger chains though, the only decent ones are In-n-Out, Farmer Boys, and Fat Burger. Other than those it's local burger stands for me!

"Unfortunately, other burgers taste a lot like the plastic action figures the chains use to sell them."

I like Bar N Grill burgers. You know, places that always have sports on the tube, you can sit down and drink some beers, and there's always a juke box or live band playing. Wuenche Bros. (in Houston) and Murski's Bar and Grill (in Huntsville) have the best burgers I've ever tasted. God, I'm craving ones of those....mmmmmmmmmmm.......buuuurrggggeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrssss........

Well I'm not personally acting like that; but face it, Clemens deceived everyone because he's a fucking egomaniac and loved every second of the big send-off they gave him.

To now understand it was all a sham it's just a fucking shame. Besides, I can't wait for Pettitte and Clemens both to fall flat on their faces in Houston. They're quickly about to find out what it's like to NOT pitch in front of the Yankees.

There is no doubt that I shall be burgering it tonight. And yeah, bar burgers are great. The local pub has awesome burgers, great beer, tons of TVs with a variety of games, and a good jukebox selection (for a public place).

So you honestly think Clemens and the Astros already had a done deal when Clemens said he was retiring? C'mon...

So the guy says he's retiring because he wants to spend time with his family, and then comes out of retirement. Big deal. Lots of athletes have come out of retirement.

Hell, Michael Jordan made a career out of ending his career and no one cared a bit.

Well, to be honest, I'm not expecting the Astros to be in the World Series like everyone else is down here. Sure they have a shot, but the National League is more hitter based than the American League is, whereas the American League is more pitching based.

What's with the animosity towards Pettite? He ended his contract and signed with his hometown team. Yankee fans need to realize that all players don't necessarily want to play for the Yankees.

Coupla quick points.

Clemens stayed "retired" for all of 6 weeks before admittedly speaking to Pettitte about coming to play for Houston. Which to me speaks volumes about his true intentions. He's a fucker, always was, got a pardon for 5 years, now is again. Period.

Pettitte, you're right, my animosity is misplaced. He was my favorite Yankee, and a TRUE Yankee unlike so many others. Fuckin' A I'm going to miss him. However, he IS going to miss pitching for the Yankees. Enron Maid Minute Park Field is *not* friendly to lefty pitchers. He's going to be whipping his head 'round to look over his right shoulder an awful lot.

So the two guys are friends, and Clemens decided to pitch with his friend. Big deal.

And I find it funny that Clemens was cool while he was a Yankee, but all he did goes out the window the second he leaves.

Personally, I find it refreshing that two athletes chose their hometown team over money, especially Petitte. Shows integrity is more important than greed. Something Alex Rodriguez needs to learn, and I'm glad it's biting him in the ass.

He won't miss shit. The dude's got four rings and more money than he needs. He's just going to go out there and do what he does best. Sure, he'll need to make adjustments, but that's what our Gold Glove catcher is for.

Petitte chose family and home over money. The world needs more athletes like him.

Also, I didn't say anything disparaging about Roger's accomplishments (though really, what exactly did he do FOR the Yankees, other than assume the role of "last guy in on a gang tackle" and collect 2 rings?), I just said he's a fucker, got a pardon while with the Yankees, and now is back to being a fucker.

He's not exactly the most likeable of guys. I hope Houston plays NY again this year; if so, it's in NYC.

I just don't understand all the animosity. NYers are acting like it was a damn conspiracy or something. See, if Clemens was still in NY, you wouldn't be saying (or even thinking) things like "though really, what exactly did he do FOR the Yankees, other than assume the role of "last guy in on a gang tackle" and collect 2 rings?" now would you? Of course you wouldn't.

It's funny that no NYer is finding fault with Steinbrenner. I guess you all stick together. Last winter, Georgie-boy only offered Clemens a contract after negotiations with Bartolo Colon and some other pitchers went to shit. Clemens was basically forced to accept a "low" contract of $10.1 million that will be paid over 11 years beginning this year. That's less than $1 million a year for one of the best pitcher ever. So why aren't any of you blaming Steinbrenner? It's he that basically said, "yeah, thanks for helping out with our two World Series victories and getting your 300th win, but I'd rather give $32 million to Jose Contreras". That's shameful.

I believe the 'Stros are playing the Mets in one series this year, and it's in NY. They aren't playing the Yanks.

I'm going to see Helloween tonight.
is the Downtown sold out?
might check them out ... saw them with Ali a few months ago and I got hooked ... need a damn drink anyway!

:hypno: You are taking the severe piss, right? I pay £2.69 for a bacon double cheeseburger over here over here and I refuse to eat anything less (cos I love bacon :p)...McDonalds is a desperate last resort ONLY if I can get my mate's staff discount cos it tastes like cheap shit...and Kentucky Fried Chicken is just shit and the queues are always too big...

No no, Burger Queef for a $1, and those have always been shite! McDougle's istn' even worth mentioning, that shit is HORRID!!!

Please plug any fast food chain more worthwhile than Burger King, because I can't imagine any for the life of me -_- except the kebab shop next to our favourite rock club, possibly. Burger vans do not count because it never seems as good as the real processed mass-manufactured thing :Saint:
