i want to start doing more recording with microphones and stuff so i want to upgrade my hardware definitely and software, possibly. i have a toneport at the moment and i dont like it too much when recording with microphones. i don tknow if its cos im bad at recording, but it sounded shite. i have a macbook with 4gb ram, so its nice and fast. i am used to using cubase, but i only have cubase LE right now.

my question is what is the best thing for me to buy? should i buy pro tools LE and an m box, or should i buy a small mixer that also only comes with cubase? i dont have megabucks to spend, because like i said before, i'm not sure if i will be any good at recording, so don't wanna waste money.

cubase LE and pro tools LE - do they sound worse than the proper versions of the software?

i have seen a mixer with an ipod dock, what can i do with that?

The LE versions do not sound any different. The features are just limited.
