Now, yes, earlier, hells no. Early Katatonia and In Flames were good to great but so were Incantation, Morbid Angel, etc.

There were a few really good melodies and songs between The Jester Race and Whoracle, but even those albums weren't very consistent imo. Katatonia's first two albums were fucking awesome though.
