good free mac VSTs

i noticed that alot of the forum use windows only VST's and i was wondering if there was any Mac alternatives to the more popular VST's that you guys have.

Generally only commercial plugins have an AU version available. For freeware plugins, I think it's very rare that there's AUs available. Maybe AU is not open for 3rd parties?

I don't know about 3rd parties and that things, but for what i know, is that convert one VST to AU when you've got source code, it's easy to do a recompile to make it work on a mac (that on simple plugins) like TSE, LePoulin Plugs, etc.
I asked that to the owner of TSE and he said that he was waiting to get a mac and he would be able to do that compile... until then...

Pretty much all I use is LAConvolver and the VSTi's by TAL. I think I have some others but can't be arsed to check right now.

for mac the absolute best sound ive gotten has been a free AU plugin called grind amp. Alone this thing sounds like shit. However, if you use a cab simulator with a great IR, this thing sounds amazing! try it out.

Check out Izotope's Vinyl. Its free und a wonderful plugin.

Yeah, I use Izotope Vinyl too.

LA Convolver for impulses. Not VST, but Reaper is awesome and also works with AU plug-ins.

Hmm... I don't think I regularly use any other freeware plug-in.

I was still hoping we would see a Mac TSE X30 one day.
