Good mp3 encoder?

Preferrably free, but I'd pay up to.... like a dollar for one. The one that came with my CD burner software is only a trial version and they want $20 for me to save frickin' mp3s FUCK THAT. Any suggestions? Thanks!

How about EAC using the external decoder LAME? I think that's the one considered to be the best.

The one I downloaded worked fine, but thanks fer ze suggestions and I'll know what to try if/when I get tired of CD-DA EXTRACTOR (or whatever).

I've started using Windows Media Player 10. Can't comment on it's quality, as I've yet to listen to the newly ripped files, but it's pretty fast and pretty intuitive.
