It's just a matter of dexterity, my fingers can't move fast enough aross the fretboard. :(

it is a mean solo, maybe the hardest to play of all In Flames solos, along with The Hive though it is more a question of tapping skill there.

Been playing this one constantly since yesterday:

It is a great highlight-video of the best mixed martial arts events called Pride Fighting Championships. I don't know if the video will have any effect on those who are unfamiliar with the sport, but I think it is amazing. Be forewarned, though: there's plenty of real violence - none of what's shown in there is fake or acted.

Thats really gross. Boxing has its grace, this is pure savagery.

A couple of short comments on this:

1. Boxing is far more dangerous - boxers suffer far more serious injuries (especially brain injuries) than mixed martial artists. Also, each year a couple of boxers die in the ring, while there has never been a fatality in an officially sanctioned mixed martial arts event (there's a rumor of a russian fighter dying of heart-attack in some small russian MMA-tournament, but it's unconfirmed).

2. Mixed martial arts requires much more skill than brute strength, especially when compared to such a barbaric sport as boxing.

3. In my personal opinion mixed martial arts are far more graceful and entertaining than boxing. Or any other sport for that matter.

Wow, villain, what happened to the last guy?

He recovered from the slam and went on to win the fight - seems unbelievable, but it's true. He's the current Pride FC heavyweight champion, Fedor Emelianenko from Russia, arguably the best mixed martial artist ever.

i'm as horrified as one can get by a bad record from a band they love and as petrified as one can get by these lyrics. ow.

“Drop dead, it doesn’t matter,” she said
“It only hurts when I laugh,” she said
“Sometimes it’s never a crime
“To spend the day in bed”
She made certain that the curtains were red
To dream better by the light they would shed
She leaned back, tilted her head
And this is what she said…

“You can’t win; think it over again
“I can’t win; look at the trouble I’m in
“We can’t win and we’re stuck here together
“Yeah, I hope it will last forever.”

“Don’t ever dare to hope,” he said
“So I’m never let down too bad
“I know there’s nowhere to go
“So I’ll just stay here, instead”
He knew better than to pull at a thread
They unravel like the thoughts in his head
He looked out; it filled him with dread
And this is what he said…

“You can’t win; think it over again
“I can’t win; look at the trouble I’m in
“We can’t win and we’re stuck here together
“Yeah, I hope it will last forever.”

With good books and looks on their side
And hearts bursting with national pride
They sang songs and went along for the ride
And the other side complied
They said, “Hey, man, where do you reside?
“And could it be mother’s superior lied?
“And is it possible too many have died?”
It’s only natural to reply

“You can’t win; think it over again
“I can’t win; look at the trouble I’m in
“We can’t win and we’re stuck here together
“Yeah, I hope it will last forever.”

Excuse me: boxing was a sport of British gentlemen - at least you are not allowed to punch under the waiste line :heh: MMA is barbaric...

No one died, well, but i saw a guy breaking his leg, but I'm not posting that vid here.

Anyway, MMA is WAY spectacular.

Fedor Emelianenko from Russia

This guy is a fucking animal :D

I saw one of his fights vs some American poser, so that guy was trembling with rage... Emelianenko made him in 30 seconds or something :heh:

I think his tattoos are from after doing some time - they truly look like he got them in prison. He might be living abroad as well, but yeah, seems he's Russian (even the last name is more Unkranian if you ask me).

edit: just checked his info - yeah, he's originally from the Ukraine, but it's not the guy I was talking about... hmmmm. Aye, nevermind :D

Down in the holler there's a thriving town, a treasure trove that makes the world go 'round

When the city barons bring their legal papers and guns

Oh darlin' don't be afraid to run

When we came to settle here we came to stay, maybe raise a family, earn a decent wage

Now every public servant reeks of suspicion

So darlin' don't be afraid to run

Darlin' don't be afraid to run and don't turn your back on the noonday sun

Someday redemption will wash everyone but there's no telling when that day will come

So darlin' don't be afraid to run

Maybe we'll rendezvous out in nowheresville or maybe we'll find each other runnin' still

Until we reach that auspicious liaison

Darlin' don't be afraid to run

Darlin' don't be afraid to run and don't turn your back on the noonday sun

The people will greet you with derision. You'll never be their model citizen

So darlin' don't be afraid to run

if i had read these lyrics when i was 15 i would have puzzled over them for days. i will still puzzle over them for a good while now, which proves something, although i don't know what.

I believe you have a few people mixed up. The tattooed one is probably Fedor's younger brother Alexander Emelianenko - also a great fighter, but not nearly as skilled as Fedor. Alexander relies more on his size and strength, which has lost him a couple of fights against more agile and skilled opponents.

And the Ukrainian one is possibly Igor Vovchanchyn, one of the best strikers in the world. Truly a fearsome kickboxer, but his ground-game and submission-defense lack a lot by today's standards. Five years or so ago Igor was in the Top-3, but the sport has evolved a lot since.

As for the broken leg, I've seen that vid. It looks almost as bad as dozens of those soccer-vids with similar results. :Smug:

Nah, I for sure remembered his last name, it was him, yeah, I checked Google as well. In wikipedia it's said that Fedor was born in Lugansk, which was the part of the Ukraine + last names ending with "ko" (Schevchenko, Emelianenko, etc.) are usually of Ukranian origin. But all this crap with citizenship and USSR is messed up by by now.

It's really annoying, when Americans think you are Russian just cuz you speak that language. So you have to carry around a globe of Europe to show where you are coming from :D
