Got a 5153 50wt +6505 comparison

I finally gave in and got one.
Did a quick re-amp of Lasse and Mago DI pack to test it.
I spent 5 minutes setting the dials and hit record.
LOVE IT !

Did a re-amp with 6505 to compare using my usual settings.
The 5153 has less low mid mush and a more present high end.

Cool clips man. I just recently picked up the EVH 50 watt myself. Your clips are a really good representation of the differences between the EVH and Peavey, both sound exactly like what my experience with them has been like. Where did you have the Resonance on the 50watt in this clip ?

The strangest thing I have found in using the EVH so far is that I really prefer it without a boost. Its extremely touch sensitive and has a more "finished" sound than any amp I have ever played right off the bat. In contrast with my other main amp, a 3 channel Dual Rec, even boosted it requires a little more fight in terms of picking articulation to get the kind of response and note clarity I get from the EVH.

I do like the low mid "mush" or "grind" that one tends to get with the Peavey or even more so with my Mesa. I could imagine scenarios where it is actually preferable, and in a full band setting I still dig my Mesa just slightly more. Still, I am pretty enamored and wowed with how different a playing experience it is rocking on the EVH.

Just got one of these myself, not had chance to use it on a record yet (going to be reamping a djent album I'm mixing soon though so think this will be used)
From playing around with it I'm stunned at how snappy and responsive the amp is. It's huge fun to play as it reacts so well even without a boost, great range of sounds from the 3 channels. Pretty sure I'm gonna love it.

I did something similar with a 6505+ and the EVH5153 50w a bit back.
Also turned out similar, evh brighter and less gnarly mids, but a nice smooth top end and attack.

I'm pretty much in love with the blue channel + TS lately. Plays and feels like butter!
Red really doesn't need a TS with guitars that aren't especially boomy. Can't harm on not so tight guitars though.

The 6505's EQ couldn't get it there but...
Put an MXR 10 band in the loop of the 6505 and matched it, as close as possible, to the 5153. Got REALLY close.

The Architects tone is ace. In the comparison I preferred the meat of the Peavey, though it would benefit from some post EQ for this track. The EVH sits better in this track as it is with no post EQ. Neither 50 nor 100 watt EVH amps need a boost on Red, they're already tighter than a boosted Recto in my experience. I think they nailed it for a plug in and play high gain tone.

57 and 421 on the same cone placed with reverse polarity pink noise to ensure perfect phase.
I really love the width of the guitars that I can get with these 2 heads.
