It sounds utterly beastly!!Both channels are awesome.

Rang James at Peavey saying 'The head doesn't work dude, it's not making any sound'
He said they'd send me one out to replace it the next day. I left the head and cab alone itching to play it, then our other guitarist came round my house and asked me to show him what was up.....realised my lead was just dodgey

haha

SERIOUS tone

The cab is awesome too. Really impressed with it. Might give the DI out a go at the next gig although I doubt we'll make a habbit of it - effort

Will try and post some clips soon

Awesome Josh!!! I just got mine a couple weeks ago and I love it. i couldnt ask for a better head for what I do. Also cant wait to hear all of the new record.

The XXX/JSX cabs are decent for the price too. Those Shef's sound great in the room, but they are disappointing with a mic on them. I threw 2 v30's in mine and made a world of difference.

Edit- Curious as to why you bought the JSX cab and not something else.... Just for a decent cheap live cab? Or just for some versatility?

Hi,
I am a JSX owner too and would love to hear some clips/try some settings of you people since I'm not 100% happy with it. I must be doing something wrong (although I've tried every bit of advice I could find in this forum) but I'd love to be able to get decent metal recording sounds with it.

Thanks,
akarawd

I had a brief play yesterday (got a shit wrist at the moment) and on the Ultra channel I had treb 4, mid 3.5, bass 7, gain 4, res 6, pres 5.
Can depend on the tuning you play in and the cab though. That was playing in E standard.

Wolfeman - I got the JSX head and cab through endorsement and the cab's awesome. For the tone we're after it sounds much better than the Mesa I played it through.

Same when doing our album - tried going through a Mesa cab and a Mode 4 Marshall cab and the Mode 4 ended up suiting it more.
A lot people playing metal these days seem to play in C or lower but for us chaps playing in standard, I find the midrange of the Mesa cabs a bit....cant think of the word...but it just didn't work for us. Can't rely on going with gear that's more expensive or what everyone else uses - whatever sounds best to you.

I'd highly recommend the JSX cab to any JSX owner. I've not tried any other heads through the cab other than briefly running our other guitarists ENGL powerball through it....was ok but I really don't like ENGLs so I'm not the bst judge

I was watching a Satriani vid on youtube and he was saying that if you keep the channel vol low and the master high you get a modern type of sound... it's true, the sound is a tad tighter, but as I was fiddling with it I accidentally found out that there is a way to change the sound to the better : if say you're using the Ultra channel, you can open up the sound by turning up the volume knob of the Crunch channel. It doesn't make any sense to me but I've always thought the JSX head sounded telephone like or harsh, without the openness we are used to in the clips posted by Andy and other memebers. I am not saying that it now sounds stellar, but it's the first time I feel it produces usable tones. Hope this will help others.

Regards,
akarawd

Yeah, I'd heard that, though haven't tried it on a recording yet (forgot about it the last time I mic'ed up a cab with it) - thanks for the reminder dude!

Sup Josh,
Just noticed your on tour with WFAHM Late this month, you couldnt ask for a sounder bunch guys to go on tour to be honest, most kind and curtious blokes i've ever met, my fav tour was with them by far! Say Hi to em from me, noice one.
Chuck

(P.S Cant stop listenin to zie new tunes, That fuckin guitar tone, senior Atkins has raised the bar again for me, i'm still young thats my excuse, hahah)

haha safe man!
you're touring with our buds Cinders Fall - James will make you chuckle

Really!? Which tour are they on? I havnt got a clue whats going on sometimes, haha. We've just been confirmed for the misery index and hate eternal tour though, boyah!

Josh you will realise how much you love that cab when you put a different cab with it and using whatever head you like swap from one cab to the other... Night and day..

The XXX/JSX cabs are decent for the price too. Those Shef's sound great in the room, but they are disappointing with a mic on them. I threw 2 v30's in mine and made a world of difference.

Neither of those cabs use sheffield drivers.. They were used in the 5150/6505 cabs

I love gettin boxes of new shit, that's wicked man. That head absolutely smokes, too, congrats on the endorsement, that's big news! I was playing a Loomis through it at Sound Control, nicest tone ever.

Cinders Fall are local boys, are you guys headin through Colchester anytime soon?

I wont be playing any other heads through that cab ;)

I only meant it was 'ok' cus I just cant stand the ENGL - still sounded better than when going through the ENGL cab, WAY more punch.
Cannot wait for my wrist to stop acting up and get some recordings done!

Nice tour chuck!!! Cinders are doing some Euro dates with you soon. Think it's your headline tour?
We just got a sweeeet tour confirmed for Jan....can't say what it is til next week but it'll be sweeeet
