I love my wife.

I hadn't been to a rock concert in 15 years. Seriously. Graduation, marriage, career, kids... lifestyle changes just made that no longer a part of my life.

PP-X had tempted me. But the cost of tix and travel made it impossible. In my moping about it, I noticed that the Progressive Nation tour (Dream Theater + Zappa Plays Zappa) was coming near me -- a 4 hour drive away.

So my wife talked me into going to see DT+ZpZ, staying overnight in a hotel, the works. "I'll watch the kids, you go have fun." And I did, and it was great.

So last night, she asks: "What about that thing in Atlanta?"

We looked at airfare, housing etc.... "You had fun at that other one, right?" After she made sure I knew I wasn't starting a new lifestyle of flying to rock concerts once a month, she talked me into going.

This is totally gonna rock. I can't wait to see Fates!!!

I love my wife!

Congratulations on your wonderful wife and, obviously strong marriage. I can relate.
My husband is only mildly into metal and yet has supported me 100% in my love of it. ProgPower X will be my 7th and he has never been able to come with me. Yet he never complains, even when it fell on our 20th wedding anniversary! He is also willing to pay for the majority of my expenses as well as an equal number of sponsorships. I'd like to send some kudos out too, to Matt Reilly for his support of ProgPower USA and me, of course. :saint:

Nice! But, why is she trying so hard to get you out of the house?

:) She says it's a cheap way to deal with "midlife crisis" -- far cheaper than a sports car. Or maybe she's building up karma... is there a big folk music festival coming up or something?

You have a great wife. My wife allows me to go unescorted once a year to PP. Actually that's not true - Steve goes with me, so in essence I'm escorted!

Seriously - I'm glad that your wife understands that you can't be together all the time and have different interests. Hope you have a good time at PP USA. Once you go, you'll come back every year! I think this will be my 5th PP USA. :)

We are indeed lucky women. My guy gives me his full support on all my adventures. I usually like the bands he likes, but he does not care for many bands that I do, but is always there to drive me to the airport and support me anyway that he can. He did fly out and meet me at PPVIII, but unfortunately has not been able to make it again since. Soon!

Congrats to you euleria for not just having a kick ass wife, but attending your first PP. :)

Great news, my husband (recently married, as in May 2009!!) is NOT into prog or power metal at all (he makes fun of it). But he knows how much I love it and how involved I am in it, so it doesn't bother him if I travel far (and often) to be active in this genre. Great that there are others out there in the same boat.

My better-half is an awesome woman also, she may not like a lot of the music, she does like Delain, Nightwish, Scale the Usmmit, Mindflow, anything with Lance in it, but she is just not into the crowds. She wants to one day attend just to meet the people i talk so much about, but for the past 5 years she has given me her blessing on my trips to Atlanta, Hopefully next year it will be both of us there.

If we meet, I'll tell you all about why you need a sports car.

I hope you have fun at PPUSA this year. Say, "Hi" to everybody. Post your picture in the Posters and nametags thread so we can identify you and say, "hi."
