GREAT ambient music

Oh I hadn't realized this thread would be dealing with dark ambient soon enough. I agree with most recommendations made above. Desiderii Marginis' serene paintings in shadowstrokes are an obvious contender for most beautiful Cold Meat music ever.

Still my all-time favourite ambient album is Predella Avant - Carbon Figures

The music on this has a dark and foreboding quality seldom found in the genre, while escaping the Cold Meat-like automatisms. It is well-crafted, fairly produced, teeming with killer collages, unsettling background rattles, wails and clangs, and great, unobtrusive keyboard work, with a couple overwhelming orchestral outbursts. Also there's a "Seventh Seal" sample (= complete ruleage) and charred corpses in the booklet. What more would you ask for? This album is totally :worship: IMO

Ah, yes, samples... Here you go then...

These are pretty cool samples, have you heard Karjalan Sissit? Similar feel to it.

Could you post a sample please? Or *cough* it up some other way.

Yeah... when I get around to it.

The answer is obvious: Northaunt - The Ominous Silence
Fits the mood for those albums.

One thing I've found recently is that instrumental or ambient music can accompany a good read. Currently, I'm reading Dan Simmon's The Terror and this Northaunt music works perfectly.

(Basically, The Terror is the name of one of two 19th century ships trapped in polar ice, and some strange shit starts happening. It's like John Carpenters The Thing set in 1876).

I quite liked the Desiderii tracks... They reminded me of Karjalan Sissit, who I like a lot.

I'll play that track soon.

Mother of GOD! This is bloody fantastic!

Where can I pick up this Gustaf Hildebran bullshit?

Haha cool that you liked it! www.coldmeat.se has it in stock. Not sure were else because I usually order my dark ambient from there if they have it as I live in Sweden so it is convenient for me. Otherwise anywere were you can order Cyclic Law-stuff I guess? They have released it after all. :p

Then tension and the kind of circular repetition and everything keeps building up, getting more and more complex. It was also quite dark.
