Yeah, but the distortion, imo, just blends beautifully with the rest of the mix, I know its surely mastered and all, but that tone is far superior to the tone that our local metal engineer gets. The guy that most of the local metal bands record with sounds really dry, and not as big and in your face... idk... Either way, mr. rap man gets my vote for best local recording.

there is an explaination to all of that. First, most idiot local bands are stupid, cheap or both and will go into a nice studio with a metal engineer and then not have the raw tracks mixed or mastered, or just botch mixed (some eq and some half ass level balancing), thats why is sounds dry and no so "in your face".

IMO hip hop and rap engineers can't do shit outside their genre but act like they are the best at recording everything and usually fail in the process. All they know how to do is excessive bass and put the mids in total oblivion. On top of that they usually have top end equipment that they don't deserve and they don't even know how to use it but actaully try to brag with lines like, check out how awesom my rig sounds, yeah thats Pro tools HD3 blah blah blah.

If you were to go to a Metal Engineer and then have thetracks properly mixed and mastered, "Mr. Rap Man" is out of business because he is polishing (horribly at that) a big fat turd.
