I don't know what way you mean religion or politic related movie since there are as many ways to express it than humans, still, here are a few movies that really changed my way of thinking.
The Last Temptation of Christ
The book is probably better, but, well it's a Scorcese so not that bad. Just to remember that Jesus/Yeshua was a man before anything else.
Altered States
Science confronted to mysticism and the idea of collective conscience/knowledge in our inner self. A classic!
Jésus de Montréal
An actor is charged to update a show on the Passion and so does he in the enlightment of archeologic and historic discoveries.
The Believer
Based on a true story, the inner conflict of a jewish skinhead.
The Little Mosque on The Prairie
A canadian series showing the everyday life of a muslim community in western Canada. It nicely shows how we could live together no matter our differences. A great show!
