The dirtiest way is pluggin your guitar on the amp, plug the amp on your computer, and record your signal with a software as Cubase, SoundForge..

Way to go and fry your soundboard. A computer's mic input expects a signal around millivolts, ffs.

I've used my pc's line in port to play through as well as record for years from my amp with no troubles..

ok, sorry, i haven't been here in a while. i just did this, and i didn't bother tuning down my guitar, cuz it's an easy one. and when i was converting it to mp3 my comp started freaking out and it pauses in some places...i dont know why. it's also kinda sloppy but tbh i'm too tired to fix it.
