The part that intrigues me the most is what well known Hard Rock vocalist he is replacing...

From Blabbermouth:
Brazilian singer/guitarist/songwriter Gus Monsanto has parted ways with the French prog-metal band ADAGIO after four years of hard work, which included a successful album and a European tour.

"We parted ways friendly," Gus said. "It has been an overwhelming experience to fill David Readman's shoes and I will take with me the great people I met on the road, the friends I made during this period, the countries I have visited. The road stories and great music I made with Stephan, Franck, Eric and Kevin will not be forgotten. They will carry on as the archangels in black they are, we are metal commandos."

Gus' departure from ADAGIO will allow him to focus in other hard rock and heavy metal projects.

"There's a lot on my plate right now. June 8 will see the release of THE LIGHTSEEKERS CD, which is a really great French hard rock band I have been working with," Monsanto said. "I also have a spankin' new project called ZYON VEGA with fellow AQUARIA members Bruno Agra (drums), Fernando Giovanetti (bass) and Alberto Kury (keyboards), plus ATLANTIDA's guitarist, Alexandre Macedo, who's been pursuing this new chapter with me."

Samples of Gus' latest efforts are available at this location.

In other news, Gus is currently in advanced talks to join a well-known U.S. hard rock band replacing a world-famous vocalist.

"I cannot tell the name of the band or anything else right now but I will disclose details as talks progress," Monsanto said.

Finally, Gus Monsanto is in the final stages of his first experience as a producer, with Brazilian metal band SKYRION, whose album is due out shortly.

My guess is Velvet Revolver. Its all that really makes sense to me. Unless its some 70s/80s hard rock band.

Hopefully they can get Kelly Carpenter in there to record the new album, the guy is such a perfect fit for the band.

Has anyone heard Kelly Schaffer's audition mp3s for Velvet Revolver? Apparently he was really close to getting the gig too. If a death metal guy could do VR better than Scott Weiland, it wouldn't surprise me if Gus could.

I thought Gus was a huge step up from David Readman, and I will miss him in Adagio. They were forgettable before him, and incredible with him.

Gus was great on Dominate, but he wasn't good at doing the Readman stuff live when I saw them at progpower. Plus, the new drummer was great on Dominate, but once again he didn't play and phrase the drum parts the same way the old drummer recorded them.

Kelly Carpenter is much better than the both of them, and from the video I've seen of him with Adagio, he is just what they need to truly take them to the next level. :kickass:

Who here thinks D.C. Cooper for Adagio, hehe. Actually, I think DC would be cool, or how about some Lance, or how about Jorn, he hasn't sung for them yet, but he has everybody else, hehe. Adagio needs to think of a second guitarist for live situations, or at least that was the case for their progpower performance. I haven't heard Kelly Carpenter before, so I don't know what to think of him.
