H.R. Giger / Art

We had a thread about books a while back - what about art, though? There are several interesting avatars around - so I'd imagin that many of you are quite keen on this.

My favourite is Giger, his work on ALiEN was almost equalled in the Necronomicon, but although his work was sometimes deemed 'perverse', I'm of the opinion that its gorgeous, was and is the best in the world. I also liked Salvador Dali, I went to the gallery in Florida and am going to the London one soon as well.

Anyone else recommended?

I'm a big fan of Roger Dean's art (Yes' cover art among other things). A truly great fantasy artist.
I'm also a HUGE fan of Giger. I sort of feel like comparing him to Tolkien in his ability to create incredible, intricate, and wonderous worlds and settings.

I have an old calendar book from Giger, and when i looked it through i suddenly saw the front cover picture from Carcass "Heartwork", you know this peace symbol.
Never knew that they've taken it from him.
Anyway there are for sure some strange pictures in this book
Does anyone here know Hieronymus Bosch?? He was a great artist too, very very weird pictures.

Dear God, there's not much art I don't like. I love painting and drawing myself.

I like those above mentioned artists, especially Giger, Bosch and Dali.
I dont know how many of you remember Dan Seagrave, an artist whose paintings was used quite a lot Death Metal bands. For ex. Entombed- Left Hand Path, Clandestine, Dismember- Like..., Morbid Angel - Altars, Carnage- Dark..., Nocturnus-Key, Gorguts- considered etc etc.
I really fond of his works, not tipical brutal-fantasy-warrior- gore pics. But since the early 90's I havent seen much of his new work.
Nayone knows about him? Maybe a website or stg?

A favourite fantasy artist that you might like to check out is Boris Vallejo

I like Nicklas Sundin artwork at the moment, but I like the skulls made by Marchall in the Metallica artwork, other guy that I respect a lot is the guy that made the Obsolete artwork for FF but i dom´t remenber his name right now.

@Falling: Carcass didn't steal it-- Giger crafted it specifically for the band, for a small stipend, of course.
