ROB HALFORD: I'm Afraid Of Forgetting Lyrics While Performing - July 25, 2002
Former JUDAS PRIEST and current HALFORD frontman Rob Halford has attributed the lack of animation during his recent live appearances to the fact that he has increasing problems remembering the lyrics to his songs while he's performing them on the concert stage.
"You as a hardcore fan complain if you don't see what you expected," Rob told Götz Kühnemund of Rock Hard magazine in the August 2002 issue "OK, I can understand that. Maybe you have seen me on a weaker day. But there have also been other shows where I just did exactly these movements like I used toand that weren't only a few. I admit the teleprompter drives me crazy. I don't know if it's because of getting older or if I can't handle the mass of information anymore. I have increasing difficulties to remember song lyrics. That's a severe problem, which is currently [being] medically checked up. I'm bothered myself about being dependent on auxiliary means like a teleprompter, because certainly I'd like to move around freely on the stage but I'm simply afraid of running from one side of the stage to the other and thereby forgetting a line of the lyrics. That would be a catastrophe!"
