Halloween is pretty terrible, and is more or less a parody. I generally can't appreciate nor get involved in celebrated holidays here as they're exploited to such a terrible level (capitalism).

Yeah, but we live in a capitalist society for better or for worse. Not appreciating them isn't going to change a thing - there's a time to make a stand against decadent materialism and there's a time to enjoy it for what it is.
