These guys are amazing. Especially the albums Crimson Thunder and Glory to the brave. Musically genius and powerful. Lyrically interesting.

If you haven't listened to them yet i suggest you do.

Glory to the brave, the dragon lies bleeding are my two absolute favorites by them.

Also good songs are crimson thunder, angel of mercy, hearts on fire, riders of the storm, child of the damned, the unforgiving blade.

Crimson Thunder is too much the same. Glory to the brave is very diverse and one of the best albums i have ever heard, if the record store has this album i'm definately going to make sure i buy it. Pure Brilliance.

I haven't heard much off legacy of kings yet but damn these guys are amazing.


oh and anyone know any bands like them? I think Blind Guardian but i'm not sure. I haven't heard a lot of Blind Guardian's work.

Blind Guardian is far better and far less cheesy.
 
Yeah that song you mentioned is definately cheesy but aren't most power metal bands? Lyrically they're all cheesy with the mideval or lotr lyrics or the "we're the saviors of metal" but i like Hammerfall a lot for their lyrics. Maybe it's because i've had an interest of middle ages all my life and they have a few songs like "the dragon lies bleeding" which seem more of a mideval theme.

I need to check out more blind guardian.

I remember the last time I saw Opeth Mikael was making fun of Hammerfall on stage. The whole crowd was laughing right along with him.

I saw them in May last year. The band sounded great plus Joacim is a very good frontman. They must have played for about 2 hours, I was suprised when they did The Dragon Lies Bleeding! :kickass:

There are two songs from the show I went to on One Crimson Night :D

I was there! Oh man, he was hilarious that night. He said people had been mistaking them for Lynard Skynard.

I'm not a big Hammerfall fan, but- cheesy, end of story. Blind Guardian isn't nearly as cheesy and in my opinion they're way more talented.

Did they play Glory to the Brave? They're insane if they didn't, that's like the perfect song to play live :p one of those songs where everyone puts their lighters up in the air type of thing. Like Metallica's Nothing Else Matters.
 
I haven't really been able to get as into them as other PM bands like Blind Guardian and Helloween, but I must agree they have a lot of talent. Maybe I should give them another try.
