Wow... my halloween sucked ass... never actually saw the parade, and the girl i was supposed to meet there (read: whole reason i was going) wasn't able to meet up with me because we were separated by this damn parade thing that took up about 90 city blocks worth of street. So fuck. At least i get to see her later this week.

In Finland the day of the dead is called kekri.
The fest is ancient, people were actually scared of ghosts and evil spirits. I think it was the worldwide tradition and all ancient cultures had respect for the dead and they were also scared of evil spirits and ghosts.
