Well now that I've introduced myself and you guys know I am a noob. I guess I'll ask my first of many questions.

I want to record into my pc using reaper for software so I've been trying to come up with what I need to record atleast a drumset without latency issues and being able to upgrade later. I was also wondering if you guys could recommend a cheap drum mic set and some mics to record acoustic guitars with. Here is what I am leaning towards for hardware please tell me what you think and if the same thing can be acheived for less cash!

RME Hammerfall 9632 PCI Card http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/RME-Hammerfall-HDSP-9632-PCI-Card?sku=240310

Well, the interface is cool.
But you might take a M-Audio Profire 2626. It has all important digital options, so youd be able to upgrade upto 26 inputs.
It comes with 8 cool preamps. I have one, and Im loving it. The preamps are really great and it works very stable.
For monitoring without latency, you might use the integrated DSP mixer.
