Is this really the case? I thought a few years ago they finally gave up because too many other manufacturers were giving them legal troubles with their trademark attempts.

I could be wrong, but last I knew, the Harley engine sound and the NBC "peacock" notes were the only 2 that were trademarked. But perhaps it did get tied up in the PTO courts.

don't know, but I agree that it must be difficult. I guess they would measure the pitch and tonality? Don't know really, only guessing.

Most trademarks are simple things to check & litigate for or against, i.e. words and/or slogans
