Has anyone else seen the new Harry Potter yet?

No Spoilers.

How is it that the longest of the first three books gets the shortest movie?
I thought they did a great job with the first 2 movies and had high hopes for this one, but they glossed over some very key elements of the story. Also a lot of Hogwarts looks completely different.
I'm going to have to see it again before I pass final judgement, but for now I just kind of wish they had spent another year making Prisoner not suck.

haven't seen it yet, but i have high hopes--better director than the first two movies, and better book than the first two books.

however, it's longer, which is a problem; the reason the second harry potter movie was so "meh" was because so much had to be cut out of it, the story barely made sense. (my non-potter-reading roommate was like "what the fuck?" when it was over) so the cutting that will be required for this one is...frightening.

my coworker saw it last night and liked it. said it was much darker and more mature than the others.

Darker and more mature yes. My main complaints are that certain scenes were either left out entirely or shortened to the point of not making sense, and also events happen in different orders. Plus they did a horrible job of ending the movie.

Yeah, I too have heard that it beats the other two due to the book and director being better.

I don't plan to because I hated the first one and couldn't finish the second one because it was so awful.

this just reminds me of that scene in a south park episode where the kids are dressed up as lord of the rings characters and they see the other kids and say:

"What are you kids playing?"
"Harry Potter"
"FAGS!"

the first harry potter movie was decent. more kidsy than the book, but it was directed by THE TINKLEMASTER chris columbus, so what can you expect?
