I'm not complaining. I know the band has gone through some extreme shit in the last 5 years, but it seems like just yesterday I pre-ordered my copy of "The Gathering" online. How sweet a feeling it was to have my high expectations EXCEEDED...especially after what Metallica had done to me with the "Load" album shortly before that.

I can hardly wait for the new album!

... It's a good thing we have Tempo of the Damned to listen to in the meantime!!!

Damn... when you look back at it, thrash metal is what has been the most productive since 2000!!

We've got great releases from

Kreator
Dew Scented
Destruction
Exodus
Annihilator
Dimension Zero
Overkill

And all these are still to come and kick some major ass!!!
Annihilator
Testament
Nuclear Assault
Death Angel
... M E G A D E T H !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...What's next??? A Carcass reunion :kickass:

don't pin anything that resembles hope on a carcass reunion.
mike amott is still in the scene with Archenemy, who seem to be riding a wave at the minute.

bill steer is still wearing his flares and playing his hippy harmonica in Firebird

Jeff Walker is apparently a lawyer/solicitor/ something like that.

and as for drummer Ken Owen...bad news i'm afraid.

http://hjem.get2net.dk/carcass/articles/interview2003kenowenph.html

basically, he suffered from a stroke and was in a coma. he is on the mend, but i can't see him palying corporeal jigsore quandry anytime soon.

sorry to disappoint dude.

What ever happened to Black Star?

well, i did get to see them twice just b4 the cd came out.
that was back in 96. quite possibly their first gig in fact. first time they opened for Dearly Beheaded at the underworld in london, and then a few months later they opened for Cathedral and Anathema at the LA2 (as it was then).

they seemed okay at the time; i always remember seeing them cos before a certain song in the set that had a saxophone part, jeff walker introduced a new member to the stage:
"this is denise, and she's gonna give you the horn"

quality. jeff walker was a superb lyricist, and a really good frontman

i never heard a dickiebird about blackstar after that; shame, as they had some very NWOBHM style to them , which i'm sure would be a bit more acceptable nowadays with bands and fans looking back to the old days.

another band RIP

Black Star and Cathedral. That's metal royalty for real!!!!! That musta
been fucking tops.

Most definitely!!!! I loved that record!

I thought Barbed Wire Soul was a totally HEAVY record! I loved it.
When I first heard of the melodic death like Soilwork's Chainheart Machine
and Steelbath Suicide and Arch Enemy's Burning Bridges and Stigmata
a few years ago, the first record I thought of was.....

I think Black Star were pioneers and never got credit. They were
underrated.

another band RIP
A DAMN SHAME.

yeah, the gigs were good fun as far as i can recall.

i have even had to replace tempo of the damned in the cd player just to remember what black star cd sounded like.

ah yes, Thin Lizzy!!!
heh heh

it does sound better now than back then - probly out of its time.

i haven't heard Soilwork, but do own the first 3 Archenemy's. i guess mike amotts prescence and influence is pretty far reaching.

like you say: underrated; good call

Mike and Chris Amott's band....ARMAGEDDON.
I didn't see you mention Mike and Chris Amott's band, Armageddon.
It's very AWESOME HEAVY THRASH! You should check it out.

Yeah, looking back, Black Star was way ahead of its time.

Steelbath Suicide and Chainheart Machine are well worth hearing!
Very br00tal, VERY HEAVY! You won't be disappointed!

Thanks. If you like Arch Enemy and Black Star, don't forget to look for
Armageddon. I know it's easily found in Japan.

^Who's off topic now.........You can go off topic.........But I can't......WTF!

I wasn't off topic. What are you talking about?

Second post, LAR03.
+Mentions carcass mentions carcass reunion.

Third post, Mysilentgrave
+talks about carcass reunion and discusses the current projects of
the former members.

Fourth post, I ask Mysilentgrave about Black Star.

Every subsequent post is about Black Star.

This thread is about Carcass, the members of Carcass and their
musical projects, specifically Michael Amott and Black Star.

I'm on topic.

It was great seeing Kreator and Destruction tour together... that was a blast from the past, and they're both two of the greatest thrash bands from the late 80's early 90's.

Vio is working on some real cool stuff. I can't wait for that one.

I also am looking forward to the new Death Angel, Testament and Dragonlord album.

Exodus is one of the best albums this I am positive about that. I am sure Testament after 5 years will tear it up.

are you talking about the tour of Kreator, Destruction and SODOM?
it was one of the best tours ever.!
3 of the most talented german thrash metal all together on one stage.

iI saw them 2 years ago in Holland, i think they did the same tour in the states... correct me if im wrong?

This I'd LOVE to hear. I'm a fan of the Amott Bros!!!
Armageddons's first album "Crossing The Rubicon" is some pretty cool shit. Very technical old school thrash with modern production quality. Don't waste your money on the other 2 albums though. They seem more like 80's cheese metal than thrash...at least to me.
