So, I just bought my ESP LTD M-300FM about a month ago. A few weeks ago my buddy was playing it and he noticed a chip or crack in the binding on top of the fretboard. Today I am jamming a bit and notice a chunk of paint missing on top of the fretboard at 22-24 frets. I am super careful with this thing and honestly it hardly gets much playtime and is always in its case when not in use.

I understand these things will happen eventually, but goddamn!! If I had done the damage myself or witnessed someone else do it, fine. But its seems like the damn thing gets screwed up while in its case!! FML!!!

This is true. Sorry for the rant, just seriously can't win. It seems the more care I take of my belongings, the worse off they are. Cars for example.....anytime I clean my entire car, something breaks like that day. Or the day I fix something on it, something else goes wrong.

I haven't vacuumed my car in about 2 years.

I gave up on keeping guitars nice. Bought a new Peavey Wolfgang Special in 98. Paint started bubbling within a month, but supply was low at the time, so getting a warranty replacement was going to take a couple of months, which sounded worse than having a paint blemish. Had a pretty nice Kramer NightSwan that I babied, until one very cold January day when we were taking some band pictures, and warm air managed to get into the case (without it being opened) and cracked the finish all over. Can't win.

That happened to my Ibanez S-Series.....must have gotten cold and warm too quickly and out of nowhere there's a huge crack in the finish.

It seems that with my luck, the less I maintain things, the longer they last. :bah:
