I just bought a mr816x to replace my firepod, and as I expected im having trouble getting it to run smoothly on my computer. Does anyone else have this interface? I have found a few steps to follow to fix my problems, and I will post my results here as I work this out. Hopefully this will help future users of the interface.
I get random crackles in the audio and dropouts. I had these same problems when I first got my firepod. However, the same settings I was useing arent working for the mr816.
With technical issues aside, I must say that going from firepod to mr816 I can hear a ridiculously huge improvement in my recordings. Vocals are so crisp, and detailed. Drums have much more depth it seems. Everything sounds better. It sounds as if I've had mud in my ears my whole life and finally got them cleaned out. I'm extremely happy with this unit, and only hope that I can resolve the crackles and dropouts.

A few things suggested so far:
- use Texas instruments firewire card, instead of the one built on the motherboard
- adjust some settings in the bios
- I also need to use the latency checker software and disable certain drivers to see if they are causing the problems.
