Last year it was headlined by Finland's MOONSORROW, Ireland's PRIMORDIAL and Sweden's THYRFING!!! Holy shit!!! That's unreal for a North American show! This years event details:

There were talks about getting Woods to play the Heathen Crusade festival last year, and again this year, but unfortunately we ran into the same unavoidable work schedule conflict on that particular weekend and we will not be able to play this year.

However, after talking with the promoters, I will say NOW that Woods of Ypres will make themselves available to play Heathen Crusade III (2008).

...hey I know a lot of you guys are saying "Holy shit! Big deal! That's like 2 years away!". In fact, it's like 1 1/2 years away, but sometimes (always) this stuff takes some planning ahead for us...and besides, time seems to fly for us these days. That year and a half will go by like nothing. See you in Freezing Cold Minessota in January 2008!!! Ahhhhhh!!!!

btw - for those who can, make an effort to support that fest THIS YEAR so it's still there when we come around to play it!

Crap, too bad for you WoY can't make it for HCII. It's way cool they seem to have found a way to carry on with their excellent fest, though. It was a bit of a close call since they lost quite a bit of money on the first edition, so kudos to that lot.
I've heard nothing but good things about the fest both from bands and fans. The Primordial/Moonsorrow/Mourning Beloveth tour was sort of a European wing, going under quite a similar moniker. Well yeah, with one of the HC guys being Primordial's webmaster as well as merch guy on that tour 'n' all... (And a genuine metalhead with - obviously - a good taste in music, I might add.)

Kris, one of the two who put on the Heathen crusade fest, is a friend of mine from down here in Arizona.


It was cool going up to cold Minnesota to watch the first one this past January and to finally see 3 killer Euro bands I thought I would have to travel overseas to witness them live!!

I attended the last one; Primordial's performance was one of the most intensely emotional things I've ever experienced. I'd been waiting 7 years to see them.

MÅNEGARM from Sweden, SKYFORGER from Latvia and VREID from Norway are the first bands to be confirmed for the second annual Heathen Crusade Metalfest. All three bands will be making their exclusive debut North American performances.

The Heathen Crusade II will take place on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at The Quest Night Club in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Bands who want to be considered for a slot in the lineup can contact the organizers at booking@heathencrusade.com.
