if the security strip searched everyone and went through every item of lugage then journalists would complain, if they don't, journalists complain...this story isn't news...

this shoe-bomber guy was allowed on the plane in france even though he was TURNED AWAY the day before. he appeared disheveled, he had virtually no luggage, his passport was shady. i mean, come on! i suppose it doesn't weigh as heavily on the minds of people in other countries though, but obviously it should.
