Hello from Into Eternity

Thrash,

I respect the fact, that even though a number of board members have given you some grief for your opinions, you haven't returned fire and have taken the high road. That being said, I think you may be missing the point here.

For starters, Into Eternity does belong. The Prog spectrum is one that is all encompassing. Their music is heck of a lot more complex than most of the bands on this bill. Second, Glenn invited them. I think he probably has a good idea of who belongs at this festival. Finally, there are a good many people, who have been to every one of the past ProgPowers, who are genuinely looking forward to Into Eternity. So, if the promoter invites them, the band accepts, and the fans are looking forward to it, I'd say it was a good choice.

The fact of the matter is, no line-up is going to be made up of only bands you love. Over the course of the last three festivals, there have been a good number of bands that I have disliked. I make it a point to revisit their CDs and give them another chance to win me over before the show rolls around. If they still haven't won me over, I'll check out the first five minutes of their set. If they still haven't grabbed my interest, I'll go have a beer with friends and do some CD shopping.

I think it's probably a wise policy not to slag bands you don't care for, as you're just going to rile up that band's fan. In the end, the only vote that matters is the one we cast with our ticket-buying dollars.

Obviously, this is just my $0.02.

great post, seriously...

except for one thing.. :)

my first PP was III and I liked 5/10 bands, IV was 9/10 and V is 9/10, so Glen is getting very close to creating a lineup entirely of bands I love.. maybe for VI. hehehhe

Tim,

any plans of playing in Europe? I was planning on going to PPV but will be moving to Spain soon, so I hope to see you guys over there sometime in the new future. Buried In Oblivion rules!!!

Has any of you heard the new Diablo CD called "Eternium"? It kicks major ass!!!

Yeah...we head to Germany at the end of May to play the Rock Hard Festival. The label is working out a small tour with Nagalfar..that should be fun and we play the Gods Of Metal in Italy June 5th with Judas Priest...25,000 people.....

Then we fly back home for a day and then drive to start the US tour for 6 weeks.....

Tim

Hey Tim, while I am not familiar with your music - I've only heard the sample on the PP page - and not really my cup o' tea, I'm with everyone else. Don't hold back brother, let it rip.

Hey Tim. Thanks for the post and the tolerance of a lot of people here-- There are so many of us here who come to this festival to experience bands and sub-genres of metal that we are not as familiar with... I am still listening to things like Secret Sphere and Mercenary from last year, that I was totally not familar with from before- I have loved what I have heard from you thusfar, and need to scrape up the cash to get a few CD's to check out further. Look forward to seeing you in Atlanta, and hopefully San Francisco!!

Hey thanks! We have a lot of cool people showing us support and It never ceases to blow me away!
I have to check out the Mercenary...I've heard lots of good things...

Tim's mock setlist, as is, was a beauty, pure luxury. Anything else is just icing.

One of the reasons I'm going to PP is clearly to see you guys in concert.

I'm still not lying when I call Buried in Oblivion "A Devestating Volcanic Eruption for the future of Metal". My top three cds of the year are in such a tight race, that I may think there are at least 3 #1 albums. (The others being the new Tears For Fears and Maboooooooooool)

Anyway, don't hold back on the setlist.

Tim!

Let 'er rip dude! You guys fit the bill perfectly and people will walk away impressed... or not. You can't please everyone, so let that fucker fly bro!

I may be coming out to the La Gates of Metal thing too, will have something cool to show you then too. You will be surprised.

Any Arizona dates coming up too? If so, the offer still stands for the BBQ and pool party at my house. Email me when you get a chance dude!

:hotjump: Fuck Zilla I'll come out for that one if they play AZ

Um I don't think IE will be playing LA GAtes of Metal, maybe Tim can elaborate but I think they will be in Europe during that time.

this will be my first progpower festival, mostly to see SAVATAGE. im looking forward to seeing a few bands, for my prog side. metal is in my blood, im from albany, ny. around here it's all metal. everyone that can should check out the NEW ENGLAND METAL AND HARDCORE FESTIVAL. headlining sat. night will be ICED EARTH, EVERGRAY making a apperance to represent PROG METAL. headlining fri. the great up and coming KILLSWITCH ENGAGE.

Hey Tim, or Intoeternity, whatever you want to be called...nothing important, but I thought you might want some random praise.

I wasn't a fan of you guys a while back, but we don't really get many good bands through Winnipeg, so we decided to go. You converted me, and I own your cd...great stuff. It's too bad I wore a white shirt into a mosh pit of black though...made me a target :(

Point is, if you put on that good of a show for probably less than 100 people at the Zoo, I can't wait to see you guys in Atlanta. Here's hoping that you get a much deserved following of fans.

Oh, and I really wish the Canadian media would focus on quality bands like you guys instead of f***ing Avril Lavigne. Do you guys come back to the prairies now, or are you constantly on the move?
