Help me untangle my hair

Ummm, that may be your answer! Try to comb out split ends or even get a trim. Brushing your hair is good for your scalp as well.

I'm seriously considering shaving the whole thing off. My mane has caused me enough trouble over the years by getting caught in various devices. You'd be amazed at some of the incidents I've had. One involved a train, of all things!

Beat to it. Dreads are the way to go. I tried to have non tangled hair for a good month, brushing my hair when I got out of the shower, but it'd be fucked up the second I put on any Decapitated or Nile, and the 20 minutes I had to spend brushing it, wasted.

But, as far as dreads go, do you all think natural dreads or professionally done ones are superior?

well when i had em (2001-2004) i went the back-combing + dreadwax (yes, there is such a substance) to get mine going, cause that way its faster and you can actually wash your hair and not be a dirty hippie. 'natural' dreads are pretty gross and stinky and hard to control the size and consistency. i didnt go to a professional either, just get a friend/girlfriend to do it.
