Did AT THE GATES vocalist Thomas sing in the crown?`:O hes awesome!

and thanks ill check em out as soon as possible

Holy crap dude. You are the picture of loyalty.

First of all... No Iron Maiden? For shame... Powerslave is a good one to start with, and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son is my favorite, but not the most representitive of Maiden in general. If you like the album Killers you might want to try some other NWOBHM like Cloven Hoof or Angel Witch.

There is not enough Dark Tranquillity on your list. Their sound has changed around a bit, I think you'd be well advised to look into their older stuff.

Try Arsis. Their first album is excellent and I think they have a more recent one or something that is supposedly good too. I'd describe it as melodic death metal but it's a little more extreme than most melodeath.

You're into a bit of -core stuff. Try Terror. More hardcore than metalcore but pretty good. Also Dry Kill Logic might peak some interest - I'm not a particularly huge fan but I generally don't like metalcore very much and they're alright. Kind of reminds me of Pro-Pain at times. You've got an Unearth album - I never listened to the one you have but "Oncoming Storm" is good.

There's a Children of Bodom-esque (that sorta agressive speedy power metal) band called Anvil of Doom that I think you'd probably like.

I strongly reccomend Gardenian's album "Soulburner." I've heard their others are good too but I've only heard a little so I can't go by experience on that one. Soulburner kicks ass though.

Use your disgression on this one because apparently the band is made up of a bunch of Nazis, but you could try Arghoslent. A lot of people love them, they took me a while to warm up to, but I really like them now. It's death metal that is melodic, but not melodeath, if you know what I mean. Like Dismember as opposed to In Flames.

While on the topic of Nazi bands, Dub Buk is kickass black metal. They sing in Ukrainian (or at least I assume so because that's where they're from) so I can't tell if they put any Nazism into their lyrics. Nokturnal Mortum too, also black metal. Personally I don't really like Dimmu Borgir that much, and I think Nokturnal Mortum is kind of like what Dimmu was going for if it was done better, if you know what I mean. With the symphonic atmospheric stuff. I dunno, everyone else might disagree with me on that statement but they're still really good but also Nazis.

Try the Sentenced album "Amok" from before they were a gothic rockish metal band. They were sort of melodeathy but more abstract.

I know you said you're not into folk metal, but I reccomend giving Windir a shot. They're more black than they are folk. Very melodic but still very agressive. I can honestly say I've never heard another band that sounds like them. They've got kind of that Skyfire sort of epic quality to their music.

Hope that helped. I've got more where that came from if you want, but that's a pretty good variety of stuff right there I think.

Oh, if Gadlor posts in this thread, which he probably will, listen carefully. No offense to anyone else.

[edit] Concerning what you mentioned in that other thread about screamy power metal, try Anvil of Doom (who I already mentioned) Archeon, Immortal Souls, Imperanon, and to a lesser but still present degree, Dispatched (who did a kick ass Final Countdown cover).

wow dude thanks alot!
I'll definatly check them all out, nazis or not :p

hehe what do u mean? :D

And i have Archeon - end of the weakness, dunno if they made others?

Again cheers, im dl'ing now :p

hehe i c :D im getting Arsis as we speak and the Svieri something Kalmah demo with 3 songs.. i'll get back with an update when i heard the bands u've recommended ;)

I don't think anybody has said this yet, but from looking at your list and seeing the only In Flames CD you have is Come Clarity, I would advise you to take a hammer to it and go buy The Jester Race, Whoracle, Colony, and Clayman

To be honest i never listen to Come Clarity, i do have a few songs of of Clayman which i enjoy. :) ill check out the other albums

Ok, so i'll add my knowledge to this thread... something worth while I hope for the topic creator.

Firstly, try 'The Absence'. They've got a forum on ultimatemetal.com so have a look over there at some point. They've only produced one album so far but it's a solid debut. They play melo-death in the gothenburg style.

The Danish band 'Illnath' play melodic black metal and have produced 2 full length albums to date. The vocals could be classed as Dani Filth in style but their music is nothing like CoF, loads of guitar solo's :). Both albums are excellent and highly recommended. I think you'd like them.

Another melo-black band (with some gothic influence) are 'Graveworm' from Germany. With 5 albums to date, all of them are worth checking out. They're an extremely consistent band and produce great music.

And yeah... like quite a few others have said, go check out the earlier In Flames albums because they really are special.
