Help needed at recording drums...

Hi, I have a question..(maybe silly to some of you, but hey, I'm new at this...)

If I want to record a drumkit in cubase, how does that work? Like, I make enough tracks for every piece of the kit, but how does it work with overlapping sounds, I mean, don't I get the sound of one of my toms through the mic of the snare? Is that something you fix with panning or how does it work?

(and forgive me my poor english, I'm Dutch...)

thats just recording
thats gonna happen on any recording anyone does
you can use lowpass/high pass n filters stuff like that to take out some of the instruments but ive never used them so i think you'd have to ask someone else on here
