Help with Mix [mp3]

Hello guys.

I've been working on a mix for almost a month and just can't get it right.
I think the thing that really bothers me is the control of low end (kick and bass).

EDIT: Guitars are Peavey JSX (revalver) through mesa 4x12 impulse.
Drums is superior 2.0 metal foundry.
In my opinion it sounds to flat but I have no idea what to do to get more nice low without getting it moddy.

As inspiration sound wise (not as a reference) I used this one:

Which is truely one of my favorite mixes at the moment.
There is such a nice low at the kick and overal mix.

So could anyone help me out a bit about giving tips to my mix.
I need a bit more body in the mix but don't really know where to start.
I used to put an Rbass on my master bus but somehow I think that is a bad habbit.

Too much treble in general. Makes it sound rather brittle.

bus your guitars to an aux

set up an eq @ 5K with a Q of 1 (that will cover those harsh frequencies beween 3k to 6k) and try -1db to -3db to see how that works

btw how do you guys handle with snare and reverb?
I'm trying to get a nice bright reverb snappy reverb. Got it on the bottom snare so the top snare doesnt sink in.
Anyone got some tips ?

i use mostly rooms for snare. you could use a plate in some cases, it depends on the song.
i tend to like darker sounding reverbs for drums and brighter ones for vox. but again, it depends.
are you using pro tools?

I'm currently in Cubase 5.
But do you directly put the verb on the top snare?

Try the 3 second plate setting of REVerence on the bottom snare mic.

nop...you have to set up an aux track, inster your reverb there and then send your snare to that aux track...like this...

i know i know, its getto...but i dont have any audio apps on this computer...
