Here's the Ozzfest lineup.

ozzfest just isnt worth the money or the trouble anymore /shrug

not to mention the second stage is always full of hard/metal/grind/killmenowbecausetoomanyclassifications-core bands..

Well, I'm not going to West Palm, the only FL date I see, so I guess I won't be seeing Maiden this year...which is the only reason I would go anyway.

I'm actually digging the line up. Iron Maiden of course is the high lite of the festival along with Sabbath. Other bands I am interested in are In Flames, Arch Enemy, The Haunted, Black Dahlia Murder, Shadows Fall, Black Label Society, Mastodon. I hope Anthrax and Children of Bodom get added to this fest.

I personally think that this is a fantastic line-up. I like the fact there is more diversifacation this year on the second stage than all metalcore bands. All of the bands on second stage I am most interested in Arch Enemy and Mastodon. Lets not forget Maiden on main stage who I have never seen before. But they need to put in a missouri or kansas date otherwise I have to drive 8 hours.

From a festival that was so dissapointing for so many years, then to bounce back with Judas Priest one year, and Maiden this year, i'm very pleased Ozzfest decided to go back to being a metal festival and not a popularity contest. A good portion of the second stage bands are swedish bands that stood no chance playing Ozzfest (or massively touring the US at that) a few years ago. Throw away all those make up wearing emo bands and you got yourself a great tour!

As for Maiden playing nothing beyond 1983, fuckin great! Now all the kids who always knew who Maiden were but nothing about them get a real treat, and those who have seen Maiden before have hopes set on hearing songs that probably wouldn't be touched otherwise. cheers!

Sabbath who? I was only 16 and I had seen Sabbath twice and that was only 5 years ago. Same set, different year. like Priest last year; This fest, it's ALL about Maiden. :)

it's ashame that the bands that would make me buy a ticket have sold out because they are a bunch of pussies...screw In Flames and Screw Soilwork....LONG LIVE DARK TRANQUILLITY!!!!!!!! Probably the only good Gothenburg band still around that I know of. WTF, no modern black metal, this year would have been great for Anorexia Nervosa

It still is a popularity contest. The only real metal festival in the US is Progpower. Otherwise you get mostly shitty metalcore bands. Take a look at the kind of lineups Wacken has had...the day Ozzfest looks like that is the day I'll consider it a metal fest. Just because Maiden is on the bill doesn't redeem the shittiness of the rest of the bands.

The lineup has drastically improved. It will never be like Wacken, and of course the premier metal festival in the US is and always will be Progpower. These bands fit well for getting 4 song sets as they massively tour the country, i'm just happy bands like The Haunted get to be part of it now, instead of 7 bands that sound like Korn (although those bands still will get the bigger and longer sets given the chance).

This may not make too big of a difference to the people on this board, but if you click on the bands link on the ozzfest website, it turns out that Killswitch is on the second stage supporting Zombie and there is a mystery slot still to be filled on the main. I had to check for myself because I found it very weird that Killswitch was on the mainstage especially ahead of Shadows Fall. I wonder why BLS doesnt get pushed up every year they open the mainstage, I would think that their popularity would have risen some in the past 4 years.

peace

It might not be your style but Maryland deathfest is run damn well by ryan and evan as they, like glenn, are able to bring tons of bands over for exclusive shows at the fest. www.marylanddeathfest.com I love progpower but there is another good fest in this one plus the minnesota metalfest shows promise. No metalcore on either.

I would say the same thing- trade soilwork and in flames for dark tranquillity to get to play for more people and I would be much happier.

I think Anthrax gets that surprise yet to be announced spot although I would rather see them on the megadeth final North america 5 band package tour.

I don't know what everyone is complaining about. True, Wacken could demolish Ozzfest any day of the week (and twice on Sundays), but the sad fact is, we speak English, we aren't in Wacken, and Ozzfest is the best we're gonna get, unless you fancy flying to Germany. Keep in mind, this was the same festival that headlined Slipknot and Linkin Park in the same tour; we could be doing a whole lot worse than In Flames. I, for one, am happy that this show has Black Label Society, Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath all in one night, and not only that, it's coming to me. Granted, I'm flying to Prog-Power because I wouldn't miss Conception, Stratovarius and Therion, but the fact that I have to drive as far to Ozzfest as I'm going to have to to get to the airport is a huge bonus.

The bottom line: Quit complaining, 'cause it has been a whole lot worse.

i dont know if not having ozzfest would be worse though, especially since i dont pay 100bux to see that when i can pay 100bux to see something much better
